About the route

The route goes over the restricted and private MOD land at Bovington Tank Training Area so is not accessible except on race day.
the marathon route is shown HERE
the half marathon route is shown HERE

IN a change to the previously advertised start, The Races now start from the Access road in the Tank Training Area. and you have a small amount of hard surface running before heading offroad.

There are many twists and turns, both races go into the south area first, there is an out and back section and a large loop with with water splashes and gravel paths, then back across the road into the tank training area. The SNAFU Half loops back past the Helicopter Landing zone, across the tank training area and heads back to the big 'knife edge' and then down to the finish. The FUBAR Full has another road crossing into the north area, past “The Danger Zone” (you can sing the Top Gun song here if you like..) and follows the paths through Millicents Plantation, to the furthest away part of the course and winds its way past lakes, then back to the helicopter landing zone and through the tank training area, then loops down near monkey world (see if you can spot monkeys across the road!).....and maybe some proper mud and back over the 'Knife Edge' (optional!)
before turning for the finish.

We definitely recommend trail shoes....

Marshals & Aid stations

There will be marshals on the road crossings, and on any tricky route turnings to guide you.
There are 6 Aid station checkpoints on the marathon and 3 on the half marathon (2 you visit twice).
All Aid stations will have shelter and will be stocked with basic provisions and all will have the same choice of items.

In line with most european trail races and now many UK trail races we will NOT be providing disposable cups at the aid stations, this is to cut down on both litter and waste.
Aid station volunteers will be happy to fill your water bladders and bottles for you, but we recommend you obtain a re-usable cup for drinks at the aid stations.

aid stations are approx at these distances:
In the SNAFU HALF MARATHON: 5.5km, 10km, 17km
In the FUBAR FULL MARATHON: 5.5km, 10km, 17km, 23.5km, 28km, 36km

(Aid station positions may be subject to change but we will advise you before the event if this is the case)
